the hols are here at last. Sunday, December 17, 2006 1:41 AM
some things just turn out to be the day's lesson learnt,
and just a couple days back,
i learnt something about a penknife and its blade.

see the penknives.

and the parallel lines on the blades?

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
as well as the slits on top of the penknives?

they always say there are reasons for every single thing in life.
and guess what?
there's indeed a reason for the parallel lines AND the slits.
i know i'm crazy,
but i hadn't even tried to THINK why they existed.
so here goes.

eventually, the blade fits perfectly into the slit.
and what happens next?

you break the piece of steel duh.
and you've got yourself a sharp blade again!

okay, this is such a neat invention which i came to realise only
after 18 years of learning who found gravity, and who made correction pen,
but not THIS!

why did this set of penknives come with so many blades anyway?

fyi, i threw away an entire blade or two some time ago.
whoops. goodness gracious me.

well, i asked my mom if she knew what the parallel lines were for.
and she gave me the duh look at once.
i'm i so ignorant?
i wish she'd taught me such a thing years ago.
but fine.
i guess it's never too late realising such stuff.
what a day indeed.
